Kansas with family

After our time in Lincoln NE, my family and I we traveled down to Peabody Kansas to spend a few days with friends of the family, the family Klingenberg and the family Kleever.
We had such a great time down in KS, with all the good discussions we had, and all the interesting things we could learn.

We had so much going on in these 3 1/2 days, we visited the AGCO plant in Hesston (a construction plant where they build all sort of agricultural machines, like combines, balers and all sort of farm equipment), we also visited a Mennonite museum in Goessel, what an interesting visit, also did we visit a tractor collector, he has so many huge old tractors, my Dad was fascinated, but sadly my brother Raphael and I we were bored to death...

But probably the best time we had in Kansas was wednesday evening as we were all invited to have dinner at the Kleevers home in Hillsboro.
The family Kleever was the family who hosted my Dad during his trainee time in the USA, 30 years ago. it was so interesting to see where my Dad made his first US experience, it was also so neat to listen to his stories, of what he had to do and how everything looked like 3 decades ago, it was so nice being able to see him going back to this place where he learned so much and spent such a good time.

On our way back we also had to apologize to a policemen for parking on the side of the road because wanted to have lunch and we couldn't find a rest area. He then told us that there were several just a little bit further north (2 minutes drive) on the border of a lake, what a funny experience.

The Leg of the Klingenberg's farm , you can see Raphaƫl and Florian on top.

 Corn, a lot of corn...
Stop pretending you do not like 'em, this picture is proof enough you DO like 'em...
Isn't that sweet = )
Dad showing us around on the farm he worked 30 years ago, everything was still there...

But sadly not in the same shape, left unused for years, the whole farm is now in a very bad shape, so sad.

Kansas is flat, nothing to say about the scenery at all, except BORING. But man these sunsets...

My Dad and the Kleevers, such great people.

Toys dating from 60-70 years ago, the most intriguing is the "Cast Iron Toy Food Grinder", and look at that "Toy Donkey" isn't he creepy?

Huh Mennonites stole Link's Ocarina... or no wait, Link stole the Ocarina from Mennonites, man now I am confused...
Even a hundred years ago they had Harry Potter glasses = )
I know, I know, not funny....

What a beautiful Bible.

The Mennonites knew how to live,  ...integrated Waffle Iron...

WOW... that's really weird, glad the times changed.

Neat, lets turn weapons into plows, what a great idea for a new beginning, this one of the reasons why I am so proud of my Mennonite history, Mennonite peacefulness.
